Alliance Event Inventory:

Below is a list of the events that we provide to our alliance partners to provide additional community support endeavors.  Each event can be tailored to the venue and the audience. 

Title: Brain Fitness

Audience: Everyone who is interested in brain health and brain aging

Objective: Educate, Inspire, Motivate

Length: 30 minutes (plus optional Q&A)

Resource Needs: Marketing, Event coordination, Electrical outlet preferred

Summary: Light hearted and educational event to provide information on the essentials necessary to promote and maintain optimal brain fitness for as long as possible.

Title: Caring for Patients with Dementia (Caregivers in-service)

Audience: Professional caregivers, Family caregivers

Objective: Educate, Reduce Stress, Increase Confidence

Length: 30 – 60 minutes (dependent on level of Q&A)

Resource Needs: Marketing, Event coordination

Summary: A practical, real-world event that may be targeted at either professional care providers (serves as an essential staff in-service) or for new family caregivers, this event provides specific scenarios and how to respond to them.  The discussion presents suggestions on how to deal with: aggression, memory loss, frustrations (care giver and care recipient) and how to improve communications.  This event should be targeted at either professionals or families. Not recommended for a blended audience of professional and family caregivers.

Title: Enhancing Dementia Care with Person-Centered Therapies

Audience: Professionals, Adult Children, Spouses.  Everyone caring for a person with—or concerned about—dementia

Objective: Educate, Inspire, Motivate

Length: 30 – 90 minutes (adjustable to time availability and dependent on level of Q&A)

Resource Needs: Marketing, Event coordination, Electrical outlet preferred

Summary: A motivational event providing information on the state of care giving today with some insight on the latest research on dementia care.  Simple suggestions on improving dementia care are provided and an annotated research bibliography (PDF format) is made available to professionals who provide an email address.

Title: Health, Wealth & Happiness: the elements of care giving

Audience: Professionals, Adult Children, Spouses.  Everyone caring for a person with—or concerned about—dementia

Objective: Educate, Motivate

Length: 60 – 120 minutes (dependent on level of Q&A)

Resource Needs: Marketing, Event coordination, Electrical outlet preferred

Summary: A well balanced care program consists of six key elements.  When these elements are omitted or provided out of balance, then care may suffer or become more demanding. This event is presented as a panel discussion presented by subject matter experts in the areas of Legal Care, Financial Care, and Mental and Emotional Care.  Real life examples are provided and participant questions are answered during an in-depth Q&A session.  Topics that may be covered include: POAs, Living Wills, Trusts, When to review your financial investments, How to know if a loved one is safe at home, Caring for a dementia patient, Behavioral issues and Alzheimer’s.  A door-prize is provided for audiences of 20 or more.

Title: Nature of Memory

Audience: Everyone who is interested in brain health, brain aging and memory improvement

Objective: Educate, Motivate

Length: 45 – 60 minutes (plus optional Q&A)

Resource Needs: Marketing, Event coordination, Electrical outlet preferred

Summary: This educational and entertaining event discusses how the brain works to keep memories and provides some easy to use techniques to improve memory and some day-to-day suggestions for improving overall brain fitness.  For free events or events with fewer than 15 confirmed attendees, a master copy of printed handouts is made available for reproduction at the hosting location for all participants. For budgeted events or events with more than 15 confirmed attendees, pre-printed materials are provided. 

Title: Talking to Loved Ones about Life Changes

Audience: Adult Children, Spouses & Caregivers of aging seniors

Objective: Educate, Reduce Stress, Inspire

Length: 30 – 60 minutes (dependent on level of Q&A)

Resource Needs: Marketing, Event coordination, Electrical outlet preferred

Summary: This educational event focuses on providing skills and confidence to ease the stress and possibility of conflict when facing the need to have delicate conversations about changes in care, living arrangements and independence.  Real world challenges are discussed covering: uncertainty, avoidance, guilt, communication techniques, and coping with resistance.
